01 — Project brief

What it is

A reference site that takes every hard question people ask about the Bible and answers it with the evidence in plain view. Each question shows:

  • a status for how settled the answer is (Green, Yellow or Red),
  • the domains the evidence comes from (Scripture, History, Archaeology, Science, Philosophy, Textual Criticism, Context),
  • a short answer, and later a full article,
  • related questions, so readers can follow a thread from one question to the next.

The site starts as an index of about 150 questions across 13 groups and grows into full articles one question at a time.

Who it's for

  1. Christians who've been hit with a hard question (often from a friend, a video or a class) and want a straight, trustworthy answer fast.
  2. Honest skeptics checking whether Christians handle the evidence fairly.
  3. Youth leaders and teachers who need a reliable reference to point people to.

Most visitors arrive from search on a phone, read one answer, and leave unless the related links pull them further in. Design for that.

The site's promise

Show the evidence, then the conclusion, and say how sure we are. The status system is the site's credibility. A Christian site that admits "this one is debated" or "nobody knows who wrote Hebrews" earns trust for the times it says "this is settled."

Principles

  • Evidence first, verdict second. Every full article separates what Scripture says, what the outside evidence says, where they meet, and what's still open.
  • Steelman the other side. State objections the way their best defenders would.
  • Calibrated confidence. Green means settled; Yellow means a strong case that's still debated; Red means open. Never inflate a status.
  • Plain language. Short sentences, no jargon without a quick definition.
  • Everything connects. No dead ends; every page links onward.

Out of scope for now

User accounts, comments, a CMS, multiple languages, and donations. The architecture should not block adding them later.
